Our future's so bright, we gotta wear shades.

Amy and Erica

When you're the best of friends:

Brenda was given an "indefinite deferral" at a blood drive, because she and her family lived at a military base in Turkey for more than 6 months in 1980. Apparently, signs of mad cow disease can take up to 30 years to appear.

Joy took us to Mount Nebo for Memorial Day, where we had a picnic lunch at one of the Payson Lakes with our friends, the Astles. We hiked a little and Amy learned what a biofilm is.

Kara has hit her terrible twos a little early. She shrieks and cries and hits whenever she doesn't get what she wants.

Amy has learned to count to five in Spanish, thanks to Dora the Explorer. She demonstrated for us at dinner: "uno, dos, fres, wah-wo, cinco." She wouldn't believe us when we told her that four was cuatro, so when Daddy asked her, "Well, say your word for it," she said, "Four." Duh, Daddy.

Aurora had her birth control surgery yesterday. She did great. In fact, as soon as we brought her home she was romping around the house and wrestling with a toy mouse. Hooray for lasers!

QOSROIT: How many languages can you count to five in?

The girls enjoying the fruits
of their Jello pie-making labors

Kara loves to play with Aurora.

Oh, here we are together in our family
:

Kara loves to eat "manas" for "munch." She also pointed out a "'saur" in one of her bedtime stories.

Amy is very sad today. Her best friend Erica is moving away.

Brenda is very, very tired.

Joy (with a little help from his wife) put in the rest of our garden last weekend. Now in addition to the single surviving astilbe and two burning bushes, we have rose of sharon, mums, creeping myrtle and snow-in-summer. Taking our previous efforts into account, we can expect about 20% of them to survive. However, we are using Miracle Grow this time, so perhaps we can raise that estimate to 40%.

QOSROIT: What do you like to eat for dinner in the summer?

Mother, I love you. Mother, I do. Father in Heaven has sent me to you:

Something clicked for Amy this week, and she started reading some words in her "Mig the Pig" book.

Kara used the potty all by herself. There is power in the example of an older sibling.

Brenda got a Dremel tool for Mother's Day. Believe it or not, she has been wishing for it. These are example of the things she wants to use it for:

Egg art

Etching glass

Joy is excited to use his wife's Mother's Day present to sharpen his lawn mower blade.

QOSROIT: Are you looking forward to any of the big summer movies this year?

Kara's first bubble experience

All tuckered out

Clever title here:

The other day, Amy pretended to go fishing for "purple juicy fish." One of her stranger imaginary creations.

Kara started going to the nursery at church last week. Our little girl is growing up (too fast).

Joy had a crisis at work last Thursday. He worked from home for a while, but he ended up having to go back to the office at 12:30 in the morning. He didn't get home again until 4:30, and then he got up at 7 and went right back in. He hasn't quite caught up on sleep yet.

Brenda sold her wedding dress on Ebay. It was pretty much just taking up space in the closet. It turns out that it was just what someone in Louisiana was looking for.

QOSROIT: Any big plans for Mother's Day?

The Petersons

May the fourth be with you
:

Forget Cinco de Mayo: happy Star Wars Day!

Joy has been working hard this week. He put down weed-control tarp in the garden beds and covered it with bark, and he built us a new computer.

Brenda loves the new computer. It has a CF card reader and is much faster. She made it to Realm 38 on Acceleracers.

Amy is excited about the new computer too, because her games work on it.

We think Kara is going to be a fashion designer when she grows up. She likes to find unique ways of wearing whatever clothing we put on her. Her favorite trick is taking one arm out.

QOSROIT: Oh, what do you do in the summertime?

The Petersons
