Amy got a balloon crown at a restaurant

Kara colored her arms with marker.
Fortunately the tattoos were washable.

Be yourself
:

Amy has been learning the difference between capital and lower case letters. On the way to school one morning, she asked Mom if her unicorn blanket is a lower case quilt because it's small.

Kara learned a new word while we were on vacation: "no." She uses it liberally.

Joy comes home from a conference in Palm Springs THIS AFTERNOON! But no one around here is at all excited about that.

Brenda needs to do something with her hair. It's been 10 years since she last changed it, but she has no idea what to do with it. She is entertaining suggestions.

Amy and cousin David on "It's a Small World"

Lounging around in Mickey's house

M-I-C-K-E-Y-M-O-U-S-E:

Funny Amy story: She got a Little Mermaid doll set as a souvenir and was acting out some of the scenes from the movie. When she got to the part where King Triton is reprimanding his daughter for going to the surface, Amy said, "You've been to the circus, haven't you?"

Kara thinks we're all silly. In the car Amy was telling Daddy that he was silly, so Kara said, "Daddy silly." We weren't sure if we really heard her right, so Mom was trying to convince her to say it again. She looked around for a second and then said, "Mommy silly."

Brenda ordered some plants for the garden before we left. In a few weeks (when it stops snowing and the ground thaws), we will plant creeping myrtle, mums, rose of sharon and snow-in-summer. The theory behind our selections is that we will have something blooming year-round. Hopefully we can keep them all alive this year.

Joy and Brenda enjoyed a very exciting Jazz game last night. We beat Phoenix 106-99 after having trailed by 15 points. Kirilenko (who is from Russia, by the way), Okur and Williams were awesome.

QOSROIT: What is the funniest thing your child/spouse/neighbor/roommate/ co-worker/garbage man has said lately?

Amy at California Adventure

Kara Mouse

We're ba-a-ack:

Disneyland was awesome!

Amy says her favorite ride was the "monster one" (The Matterhorn), which was the one ride she was sure she didn't want to go on. We have no idea why she changed her mind when we got there.

Kara liked It's a Small World. She was fascinated the whole time.

Joy dragged Brenda on California Screamin', Maliboomer and Tower of Terror. Yes, they were fun. She can admit that.

QOSROIT: What is your favorite Disneyland/California Adventure ride? If you've never been, what would you like to try?

"Yeeeeehaaaaaw!"

This is how Brenda poses for a picture.

Roooaaaarrrrr:

Kara, Amy and Brenda went to the North American Museum of Ancient Life (a.k.a. the Dinosaur Museum) this week with Grandma and Aunt Jo. Kara did not want to ride in her stroller. And once she was out walking, she insisted on pushing it. Amy's favorite part was going out to lunch afterward. She got to have chocolate pancakes!

Joy helped a friend hang drywall on the ceiling in his basement last night. It was a hard, dirty job, but they learned some good techniques (that will help when it comes time to finish our basement ).

QOSROIT: When is your next birthday, and how old will you be?

Our answer: From now on, our answer will be in the comments. It seemed to work nicely last week.

She definitely has her dad's eyes

"Whoever wants a straw, raise their hand!"

The clomp-clomp of little feet:

Kara got a brand new pair of shoes last week! She was so proud she had to carry them out of the store by herself. But then when we got home, she wouldn't let us put them on. Since she got a taste of walking around outside, though, she has insisted on wearing them every day.

Amy made cake with her friend Erica this week (with Mom's help, of course). They made their own icing too. They added a lovely combination of green and red food coloring and wondered why it turned black.

Joy is very happy with the Utah Jazz today. After being up 18 points, they let Golden State come back to a 6 point lead. Then they pulled off a 117-108 win in overtime.

Brenda has officially gone over to the dark side. The community choir (sorry, the Spanish Fork Regional Chorale) has too many altos and not enough sopranos, so she defected.

Taz had her annual checkup at the vet yesterday. The report he gave us said, "Your pet is reacting in an aggressive manner to the environment." Ya think?
